Will Rick Warren Vote for Known Adulterer, John McCain?

The following question was put to Rick Warren at Political Punch.

Would you have compunctions about voting for someone who had cheated on his wife?

WARREN: Absolutely I would. Absolutely I would. Because if you can’t keep your faith to your most sacred vow – “’til death do us part” — how in the world can I trust you to lead my family? My government? My nation?…Absolutely I would. I think people first need to ask forgiveness and then earn trust back over time Can trust be re-earned? Absolutely but it takes time.

Maybe there has been enough time, but it says a lot about McCain’s character that he cheated on his first wife while she was crippled from a car accident.

Some of McCain’s acquaintances are less forgiving, however. They portray the politician as a self-centred womaniser who effectively abandoned his crippled wife to ‘play the field’. They accuse him of finally settling on Cindy, a former rodeo beauty queen, for financial reasons.

Out with the old, in with the new and rich …

Double Standard?
