Barack Obama looks to form a “new political coalition” and is the only candidate capable of such a feat

Obama said in the debate tonight that he looks forward to forming a “new political coalition” in Nov.  As you can tell, I have been no fan of the two party system, but Obama is the last man standing of the major contender republicrats that I actually like. McCain is about my 10th choice at this point.  No way, no how, will I be voting for McCain.

Obama has the wind at his back.  Hillary has zero chance of building an expanded democratic coalition.  None.  Zip.  Nada.  Her only hope of winning the presidency in 2008 is to hang on for dear life to the votes that John Kerry got in 2004, maybe finagle a few more, and hope that John McCain keeps being John McCain version 2008.  Maybe a blow up in a Iraq might put the finale stake in McCain.  Even if everything goes right, she can only snatch the nomination away from Obama who will have the lead in pledged delegates.  This would be a disaster.

Disaster = Shrinking coalition.  Pissed off Democrats.  Some probably pissed off enough to support John McCain for a variety of reasons.

Even with all that Obama is sure to face as the first black man to secure the nomination of a major party, people love him.  I cannot understand how someone could have listened to the race speech and not felt proud to be an American.  Obama is the walking, talking epitome of what America should be.
