Candidates@Google: Ron Paul
2008 Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul in discussion with Google executive Elliot Schrage as part of the company’s Candidates@Google series.
What is a Constitutionalist?
“That means that you have high respect for the constitution … That contract is very important … I believe our constitution was probably the best ever written as an agreement between the people and the government … The principal of Rule of Law should be sought after. That is, if you have a contract, you should follow it. If you disagree with part of that contract, you should seek to change it in the proper manner, but ignoring it is the worst thing you can do. That’s what we’ve done. Take the war issue. We don’t declare wars anymore. We go to war under U.N. resolutions. We go into war for all kinds of ill-advised reasons. Going to war in an unconstitutional manner undermines the whole system. “
